What and where ?

All year round!

• Norway pout and conger to be found on top of rocks and shipwrecks. Down rigger fishing from the boat safely anchored with most simple dressing possible such as lines for congers and rigs for pouts.
• Dogfish and skate: trolling over large gravel pits, preferably lured with chunks of sardines and mackerels.
• Seabass is everywhere around rocks. The breeding season (mid January – mid March) makes it scarce though. Leave it alone then and go for other species.
• Whiting is in large supply as early as November until late March. Either caught with lines or rig dams.
• Mackerel, garfish or horse mackerel can easily be spotted: the seagulls flying over the shoals give them away! The painless way to get it is the multiple hook rig.
• Black bream: in shallows (15 m – 20 m), large size to be found at – 30 m. Highly recommended: bait mixture of local squid, cockles, razor clams, hard shell clams, etc…
• Gilthead bream: hard to catch, located along the coast in shallow waters (1m – 10 m), feed on mussels downstream.
• Atlantic croaker: the king of Charente – Maritime, present from late May to late October. Our favorite type of fish, can weigh 1 kg – 45 kg!
• Thresher and blue shark: scarce but is still caught annually.
